About the position

Desired Start Date 04/28/2025 up to five months, start date is negotiable

We are seeking multiple technicians to monitor the spring-summer Chinook Salmon fisheries in the Clearwater River and lower Salmon River. These are full time (40+ hours/week) temporary non-benefited positions. Monitoring is typically four days per week, two weekdays and both weekend days. Housing (camp trailers) for out-of-area employees is available on a limited basis for the employee. No pets. Occasional overnight stays (provided hotel, camp trailer, camping) may be required. 

General Information
With or without reasonable accommodation, incumbents may travel to remote locations for data collection and field activities; must be able to walk over rugged terrain along stream banks; lift and carry equipment weighing up to 60 pounds and occasionally lift and carry up to 100 pounds for short distances; operate four-wheel drive and off-road vehicles in rugged terrain; and work in inclement weather conditions.
Qualifications
Applicants must be able to work well in a team environment and independently as needed, take direction and follow protocols effectively. Applicants must be well organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, responsible, and safety conscious. Must have a valid driver’s license. Fisheries related experience and education are preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities
Typical duties during fishery monitoring include interviewing anglers to collect effort and catch data using electronic data entry, collect genetic samples, scan harvested fish for tags, inventory biological samples, and upload electronic data. Early morning, evening, and weekend work are required.
