The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is seeking a Range Center Master. This position will be located at Farragut Shooting Range Center located in Athol, Idaho. This is a year-round benefited temporary position and is expected to work up to 30 hours per week and may include some evenings and holidays and will include weekends. The Range Master at Farragut Shooting Range Center (FSRC) ensures the safety and efficient operation of the facility.

Supplemental Information:
May require you to lift or carry items up to 70 lbs. Some positions may require traveling and hauling a trailer to various locations for public outreach activities and events. Must pass a background check to become certified.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety of all customers and staff at the Farragut Shooting Range Center (FSRC).
- Maintain expert knowledge of firearms and assist shooters as needed.
- Organize and supervise safe shooting activities, including range operations.
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteer Range Safety Officers (RSOs).
- Uphold high standards for facility maintenance and range operations.
- Assist with Hunter Education courses and outdoor skills programs across the Panhandle Region.
- Enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and safety directives.
- Handle scheduling, customer complaints, and resolve issues effectively.
- Monitor range activities and supervise administrative tasks, including documentation, sales, and reports.
- Coordinate and execute instructional programs and events.
- Perform opening/closing procedures, security checks, and maintain range facilities.
- Conduct minor maintenance and attend required training sessions.
- Collaborate with IDFG staff, partners, and volunteers while adhering to all policies.
Minimum Qualifications: (These qualifications are required)
- High School Diploma or equivalent some college coursework or technical training preferred.
- NRA Range Safety Officer Certification and the ability to maintain this certification.
- Some knowledge of hunting or fishing methods including ethics, firearm safety, wildlife identification, Idaho hunting regulations, or conservation topics. (This is typically gained through hunting or fishing experience and passing a certified hunter education course.)
- Must have a valid driver’s license
Minimum Qualifications Specialty: (These qualifications are required.)
- Must be a certified Idaho Hunter Education Instructor for the State of Idaho or be willing to complete the program for certification (preferably including Bow Hunter Education).
- Experience using a computer and software such as Microsoft Office suites.
In addition to the minimum qualifications, the ideal candidate will have some college coursework or technical training. Previous law enforcement and/or military experience. Knowledge and experience in various forms of hunting. Experience operating equipment such as chainsaws, augers, skid steers, tractors, etc. Additional consideration may be given at the time of the interview to candidates who have this experience.
